SciVerse Live Chat

The idea is an app that using live chat technologies connects library assistants with researchers.

The application workflow could be: 1. A library assistant creates an account (it requires institution’s IP range) and logins using the SciVerse live chat website. 2. When a researcher needs help, he simply have to click the “Live Chat” app. Then, he will be connected with a local library assistant. 3. During the session, the library assistant will be able to see information such as user’s query.

Value for Users

The value for library assistants is that they can support their users when they really need it, plus library assistants can have additional information such as user's queries. The app also creates an excellent channel to teach users who use SciVerse. And for researchers, they will receive live help from a person in the same institution, which it can be extremely useful to offer institution specific information or additional resources available in the library.

Application Users

The application can be used by any researcher inside the institution, but the main target is students and new researchers.

This idea is very good because it supports a very library service such as consultation and referral. The best thing for me is the way it is conceived with the existence of a local librarian assistant serves as an intermediary of the system and thus could perform functions of orientation and education users, as well as teachers and researchers who use the application for consultation on SciVerse. I agree with this.

I like this idea also. I’m not sure how the library assistant/librarian will be notified that someone is trying to chat with them?
